Sof Omar,
named after the nearby village, is a famous and long known cave.

than 15km.
This
cave system is part of the underground Web river, which
sinks at Ayiew maco at an altitude of 1,345m a.s.l..
The river resurges 1,200m away, at Holuca at an altitude
of 1,330m a.s.l.
The sof omar
cave is entered from the resurgence side, but it has 42 entrances. Great
caverns have been carved out of the rock creating soaring underground
chambers.
A medieval
sheikh, Sof Omar, local legend holds that he was praying nearby when Allah
opened the cave mouth for him. He used the chambers as a mosque all his
life, and they remain sacred to Muslims as a place of pilgrimage and worship.
